Our Chief Instructor teaches our tailwheel course, he has over a thousand hours in dozens of different types of tailwheel aircraft. We teach in the best platform ever made for learning to fly a tailwheel aircraft - a 1947 Piper J3 Cub, 85HP with no electrical system. You will begin by learning to hand prop, followed by taxiing, wheel landing, three point landing and one wheel landing for crosswind landings at RWJ Airpark.
RWJ Airpark is unique as it offers the best place to learn tailwheel with three runways - two grass and one newly seal coated asphalt runway. The winds normally favor runway 14, and if the winds decide to blow the opposite direction 32 is the answer - a 3500 foot grass runway. If the wind decides to head east or west we have a newly seal coated asphalt runway 8-26 which is over 5000 feet in length or the option for the new 9-27 grass runway at just 1255 feet in length and 22 feet wide. We will make you a competent and safe tailwheel pilot ready to take on any challenge.
